Getting your first tattoo can be a very exciting experience, don’t rush into anything. Always make sure you are happy with your design. Speak to your artist if you are uncertain, they’re always happy to help.
-
Where do you want to get your tattoo? Have a few ideas of where you might want your tattoo as your first thoughts might not work. Your artist will guide you and help you achieve what’s best.
-
Make sure to do lots of research into your artist. This is very important as they may not be the right artist for what you are looking for. If you are unsure please contact them directly with your questions.

Before your appointment, it’s very important to look after yourself, a little more than normal! Here are some suggested requirements.
· Please make sure you do not consume any alcohol or illegal substances prior to your session, this also includes during your session. Seven Tides reserve the right to refuse anyone they determine unfit for the procedure.
· We recommend that you consume a good meal and are properly hydrated before your session, you can bring snacks and drinks along with you to have in our reception. Aspirin and ibuprofen are off-limits in the 24 hours before your appointment because they can thin your blood. This will make tattooing a lot harder for your artist. It may be OK to take acetaminophen (Tylenol) before your session but confirm it with your artist first.
· Don’t get sunburnt. If you attend your session with sunburn or damaged skin you will need to rearrange your session. You will be required to put down a new deposit in this instance.
· Getting a good’s night sleep is very important. Being well-rested will help you during the session.
· We, unfortunately, cannot tattoo you if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. -
You should be showering every day (hopefully), but please remember to do so before your appointment.
-
Comfort is key and wearing something you feel relaxed in will help you in your session. If you're having a leg tattoo done, don’t come wearing skinny jeans, if so, bring some shorts to change into etc.
-
You’ll want to talk to your doctor before getting your tattoo if you have a skin allergy, no matter how minor. Every person’s skin can react differently to tattoos, so make sure you’re not aggravating any pre-existing skin conditions you may have already. Please inform your artist of any allergies you may have.

Most importantly, have fun! Enjoy your session and remember to take your time and look after yourself. Getting your first tattoo can seem daunting and here at Seven Tides, we want you to enjoy your one-to-one experience, whilst giving you the tattoo you want, in a clean and safe environment.
